Eugene Emeralds Top Boise, 5-4

EUGENE, Ore. - Justin Pickett hit a pair of solo homers as Eugene topped visiting Boise, 5-4, on Sunday.

Pickett went deep in the sixth and seventh innings to put the Emeralds ahead.

The 22-year-old catcher had been 1-for-9 this season with his only other hit being a homer on Saturday.

Brian Joynt plated two runs with a single in the first for Eugene (4-2).

Starter Matthew Teague gave up two hits and struck out one in three scoreless innings.

Brandon Gomes (1-0) walked one and fanned two in 2 1/3 hitless frames.

Ty Wright belted a two-run homer, his first, in the seventh for the Hawks (0-6).

Al Alburquerque surrendered three runs on five hits and four walks and struck out six in four innings.

Chris Siegfried (0-1) allowed one run on two hits and fanned two in 1 2/3 frames.
