CORVALLIS - Eighth-ranked Oregon State University's baseball team got a little bit closer to a return trip to the World Series yesterday. First baseman Bill Rose had six R-B-Is in the Beavers 12-3 victory against Hawaii. The win sends O-S-U into a super regional Friday or Saturday against Stanford and the best-of-three series figures to be played in Corvallis.

The N-B-A pre-draft camp begins tomorrow and last through Saturday in Orlando, Florida. And that means Trail Blazers President Steve Patterson will be there with a contingent of team personnel that will attend the camp. Every N-B-A team will be represented at the camp.

This weekend is a fisherman's dream in Washington and Oregon. Anglers can fish without licenses, courtesy of programs designed to get more people interested in fishing. Suspension of the license requirement Saturday and Sunday is known as Free Fishing Weekend.

Most of northeast Oregon is expected to be out of bounds for bow hunting for cow elk when the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission decides which of the state's game management units will be open to either-sex hunting during bow season. New rules limit hunters to bulls-only except in units designated each spring by the commission. Similar rules have been in place for deer bow hunters.
