Oregon's Leunen, Taylor Receive Pan Am Games Invite

The 2007 Pan Am Games will be held July 13-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon's Maarty Leunen and Bryce Taylor are two of 30 collegians who have been invited to participate in the July 12-14 USA Basketball Men's Pan American Games Team Trials at Haverford (Pa.) College.

The 2007 Pan Am Games will be held July 13-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Leunen, a 6-9 forward from Redmond, Ore., averaged 10.8 points per game last season and was the No. 4 rebounder in the Pac-10 at 8.2 points per game.

Taylor, a 6-5 guard from Encino, Calif., scored 14.1 points per game while shooting 51.7 percent from the field. Both will be seniors in 2007-08.

The two players bring the total number of Ducks in summer competition to five with Tajuan Porter heading to the USA Basketball U19 trials and Mitch Platt and Ray Schafer touring with Athletes in Action teams.

Highlighted by 16 players possessing prior USA Basketball experience, as well as one All-American and 10 all-conference first team honorees, 30 of the nation's top collegiate basketball players have accepted invitations to participate in the July 12-14 USA Basketball Men's Pan American Games Team Trials that will be held at Haverford College (Pa.).

The Trials will be used to select the finalists for the USA Basketball Pan American Games squad that will look to capture gold at the 2007 Pan American Games that are being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 13-29.
