CORVALLIS - - The Oregon State Beavers had four players chosen on the first day of the Major League Baseball draft. Right-hander Dallas Buck was the first Beaver selected, going to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third round. A few picks later, the Milwaukee Brewers took outfielder Cole Gillespie. The Atlanta Braves drafted left-handed reliever Kevin Gunderson in the fifth round and the Detroit Tigers took pitcher Jonah Nickerson.

(PORTLAND) - In other draft news, the Chicago Cubs took Bend High School outfielder Andrew Rundle in the 14th round, the Seattle Mariners drafted University of Portland pitcher Austin Bibens-Dirkx in the 16th round and the Los Angeles Dodgers took Portland right-hander Joe Jones in the 18th round.

(TUCSON) - Former Oregon State third baseman Brian Barden singled home the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Tucson Sidewinders beat the Portland Beavers six-five to complete a four-game sweep.

(NEW ORLEANS) - The Buffalo Bills traded former Oregon State tight end Tim Euhus to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for linebacker Courtney Watson.
