CORVALLIS, Ore. - Saturday's opening game of the NCAA Super Regional baseball series between Michigan and Oregon State was rained out.

The Wolverines (42-17) and the 25th-ranked Beavers (42-18) are now scheduled to open their series Sunday at 1:06 p.m. at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field; the game will be televised on ESPN.

Fans attending Sunday's game will need their tickets or ticket stubs from Saturday for admission.

For Monday's game, for which the start time is yet to be finalized, fans will need the ticket for what was originally to have been Sunday's game.

If a third game were necessary it would be played Tuesday at a time to be determined; fans would need the ticket for what would originally have been Monday's game.

The radio broadcast of the games are available at Beaver Nation Online.

The defending national champion Beavers are looking to qualify for the College World Series for the third straight year.

The rainout was the second in as many weekends for Oregon State during the 2007 postseason.

Last weekend, the Beavers were rained out of a Sunday elimination bracket game against Rutgers.

The rainout was the second of the season at home for Oregon State.

On April 21, OSU’s game against Nevada-Las Vegas was postponed and made up as part of a doubleheader the next day.

Oregon State Quotes:

OSU head coach Pat Casey:

I think both teams were ready to play and wanted to play today. We have had such a great year this year and had to deal with the weather, so that’s disappointing. There is no advantage to either club because both will be ready to play tomorrow.

(Is the extra day of rest a help to OSU?) I hope so but I think our pitchers and players are ready to play.

We have a great weatherman, George Taylor, and he saw no breaks through the rest of the day that would allow for any significant amount of a game to be played.

(On the decision to call the game) I don’t have any control over it. It’s an NCAA tournament and we are the host team. The NCAA makes the final decision.

(On OSU’s pitching rotation) (Jorge) Reyes is still the plan for tomorrow but we haven’t really talked about it. I am sure we (the coaches) will get together later and discuss it.

Mitch Canham:

(On the rainout) It’s part of the game. I feel bad for the fans because they were all hyped up to watch the game. We were all anxious to play and have been since we beat Virginia.

Darwin Barney:

(On whether the extra day of rest due to a rainout had helped OSU during the NCAA Charlottesville Regional last weekend) At that point our club didn’t really need it. We are the kind of club that, when it’s game time, it doesn’t really matter how tired you are. The rainout was good for our pitching staff, but they were ready anyway.
