CALDWELL, Idaho - Jason Roach took a perfect game into the sixth inning and every Albertson College batter in the line-up had at least one hit, as the Coyotes opened up NAIA Region I play with a 10-2 victory over Corban College at Simplot Stadium.

The lefty from Sacramento, Calif. retired the first 16 batters in a row before Josh Warner rapped a base hit up the middle.

He went seven strong innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits, striking out six without a walk, to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Coyotes have not thrown a no hitter since 1958, when Bob Perkins threw a no-hitter against Boise State.

ACI (8-2, 1-0) got on the board in the second, as Tyler Smith laced a two-run single and Pat Burke lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

The Yotes would add three more runs in the third, as Richie Snider and Adam Roach led the frame off with back-to-back doubles, with a Jacob Garsez single to make it 5-0. The lead would balloon to 9-0 in the sixth on a Snider two-run single.

The visiting Warriors (4-6-1, 0-1), who arrived in the Treasure Valley late due to travel problems, scored their lone runs in the seventh on a Coyote error.

Smith and Garsez each had two hits for the Coyotes, with Warner going 2-for-3 for Corban.

The two teams complete the three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader set for 11:00 AM.
