MONMOUTH - Three more women’s soccer standouts have signed National Letters of Intent with Western Oregon, bringing WOU’s 2007 recruiting class to eight.

The latest trio to commit to the Wolves program are Brenna Lander from North Kitsap High School (Wash.), Clackamas High School’s Jill Peterson and Stephanie Catt, a transfer from Clackamas Community College.

Earlier, head coach Rod Fretz announced the signing of Gresham High School standouts Cori Young and Kelsie Blachly, Samantha Horvath of Sprague, Jordann Gilmer (Federal Way, Wash.) and Chelsie O’Neill (South Medford).

Lander was a four-year letterwinner for the North Kitsap Vikings, a 4A school in Washington.

She led her squad in goals and assists and was a two-time team MVP. The forward was a first team All-Narrows League pick as a junior and was honorable mention as a senior.

Peterson was the team captain and top defender for Clackamas, who advanced to the 6A quarterfinals last fall.

She was a two-time second team All-Three Rivers League pick as a defender and was selected as the Cavalier’s MVP.

Catt is a junior who played one season at Clackamas CC and one at Southern Oregon.

At Clackamas, the forward was a first team All-NWAACC selection and played in the league’s all-star game. She had 14 goals and eight assists for the Cougars.

At SOU, she played in all of the Raider’s matches and had three goals and three assists as a freshman.

She was a first team All-Portland Interscholastic League pick as a senior at Madison High School, and was selected as the squad’s top offensive player her junior and senior years.

Western Oregon plays in the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The Wolves graduate just three players off a team that finished 9-9-2 in 2006.

Coach Fretz will be entering into his 12 season as the Wolves leader in 2007.
