JUNIPER, Fla. - At approximately midnight on Thursday, Juniper police undercover detectives saw a dark blue Ford SUV parked in the intersection of Fredrick Small Blvd and Military Trail.

The vehicle sat through two cycles of green lights, and the driver behind the SUV was forced to go around.

Officers approached the running vehicle and saw a white male driver, later identified as Anthony LaRussa slumped over in the drivers seat.

The SUV was in drive, and the engine was running, however LaRussa had his foot on the brake.

Police said at first La Russa did not respond to officers who were knocking on the window, but later woke-up and pulled the SUV over.

Police smelled alcohol on La Russa, and conducted a field sobriety test.

La Russa failed the test, and was arrested on suspicion of DUII, a misdemeanor.

He was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail, where La Russa provided two breath samples, which showed he had a BAC of 0.093%. Florida's legal driving limit is 0.08 percent.

He was booked into the jail, posted $500 bail, and was released just after 8:00 AM.
