EUGENE - The No. 54-ranked University of Oregon women’s golf team stood in seventh place Monday afternoon after the first two rounds of the Duck Invitational, held at Shadow Hills Country Club. Junior Victoria Wenslow weathered a prototypical spring day that featured bouts of sun, wind and rain and temperatures in the mid to low 50s. The Bunkeflostrand, Sweden native posted UO’s low score of the day and was tied for eighth overall (76-78-154) but played as an individual since she missed the team’s practice qualifying round last week. In the first round, Wenslow carded birdies on the par-five fifth and 15th holes and parred 12 others, and in the second round, she parred 13 more holes. Sophomore Cathryn Bristow followed in a tie for 12th place (79-77-156) as the team’s low scorer Monday, and was followed by freshmen Kate Hildahl (16th-tie, 81-77-158) and Felicia Eastick (22nd-tie, 79-80-159), senior Therese Wenslow (29th-tie, 81-81-162) and sophomore Blair Ressler (53rd-tie, 85-84-169). Another Duck frosh, Cathleen Ward, also played for the Ducks as an individual Monday and tied for 53rd place overall with Ressler (82-87-169). Overall in the team standings, No. 38 San Francisco owned a three-stroke edge on the 14-team field with its two-round score of 615 (299-316), and was trailed by No. 46 Washington State (second, 306-312-618), Idaho (third, 315-311-626), Oregon State (fourth, 313-319-632) and Boise State (fifth, 312-321-633). Individually, the Dons also sported the top two players after Monday’s completion – Jessica Potter (first, 71-77-148) and Kristin Nichols (second, 73-76-149) – and Amy Eneroth of Washington State and Katie Street of Boise State were tied for third place at 150. In the first round Monday morning, San Francisco jumped out to a seven-stroke advantage with its 299. Washington State followed in second place (second, 306) ahead of Central Arkansas (third, 310), Boise State (fourth, 312) and Oregon State (fifth, 313), while the Ducks stood eighth (320) overall. Nicole Forshner of Central Arkansas led the first round individual standings with a three-under 69, and was trailed by San Francisco's Jessica Potter (second, 71) and Boise State's Katie Street (third, 72). Victoria Wenslow claimed UO's best score of the first round (eighth-tie, 75) and Bristow and Eastick followed in a tie for 20th place with their first round scores of 79.
