SALEM - Sixth-year head men's basketball coach Justin Sherwood increased his incoming class of recruits from one to four this past week with the signings of three Aloha High School graduates, including a pair of 2007 seniors and one junior college transfer. Sherwood, who is entering his sixth season at the helm of the Warriors, received letters of intent from high school seniors Ian Logan and Clay Martin, as well as junior college transfer Paul Martin. Logan is ranked as the 5th best forward in the state of Oregon according to northwesthoops.com after averaging 14.3 points per game and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game as a senior at Aloha High School. The 6-foot-7 forward earned 2nd team All-Metro League honors this season after being named as a member of the 1st team following his junior season in which he averaged 16.8 points per game. Clay Martin is listed as the 8th best combo guard in the state of Oregon, according to northwesthoops.com, after pouring in 14.0 points per game this past season. The 6-foot-1 guard earned 1st team All-Metro League honors as a senior after being named as a member of the 2nd team following the 2005-06 season where he averaged 12.8 points per game. The eldest of the trio, Paul Martin, comes to Corban following one red-shirt season at Idaho State University (2005-06) and one season at Scottsdale Community College (2006-07) in Scottsdale, Arizona. At Scottsdale Community College, Martin averaged 8.9 points per game and handed out 4.4 assists per game in a Fighting Artichoke uniform. As a 2005 graduate of Aloha High School, the 6-foot point guard was ranked 38th in the state of Oregon among all point guards by northwesthoops.com after averaging 14.5 point per game as a senior. This trio of Aloha High School graduates joins former Western Mennonite point guard Bryan Martin (Salem, Ore.) as members of the Warriors' 2007-08 men's basketball recruiting class. Corban will tip off the 2007-08 season on Saturday, November 17th, when it hosts first-year program Portland Bible College beginning at 7:30 PM inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
