STANFORD, Calif. - Holli Dieu moved up Oregon State’s list of all-time top performers in the women’s 1,500 meters Saturday at the Stanford Invitational track and field meet. Dieu, a freshman, finished in 4 minutes, 35.90 seconds to climb from ninth to seventh on OSU’s all-time list in the event on the final day of the prestigious meet. “We had a really good weekend,” OSU head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “We’re definitely gaining ground.” Dieu finished fifth in her heat of the women’s 1,500 “B” sections. “We were really pleased with Holli, because this shows how much she’s coming back from missing last track season (as a high school senior in 2006),” Sullivan said. Jean-Marie Peterson won her heat of the women’s 1,500 “B” sections with a personal-record time of 4:37.70; she was the second OSU runner of the weekend to win a heat. “Jean-Marie really did a great job of getting herself in position to win that race,” Sullivan said. Holly Thomson was seventh in her heat of the women’s 1,500 “B” sections in 4:39.88, and Elise Aschwanden was 10th in her heat with a personal-record 4:46.86. OSU’s next competition will be the Willamette Invitational in Salem next Friday and Saturday.
