McKay, West Salem Seasons Come to an End

For West Salem, their season came to the end with a heart breaking 43-41 loss to Lincoln.

SALEM - The seasons for two Salem high school girls basketball teams came to an abrupt end Friday night in the second round of the OSAA 6A state playoffs.

For the McKay Royal Scots (18-7) a dream season was cut short by state powerhouse Oregon City, 80-55.

Anna Marchbanks had a school record 33 points in the loss to the Pioneers.

McKay was making its first playoff appearance in 18 years.

With the win the Pioneers up their record to 22-4.

For West Salem, their season came to the end with a heart breaking 43-41 loss to Lincoln.

The Titans Katie Scanlon, the state’s leading scorer, was held to just 12 points, all of which came in the first half.

Kelsey Goodell had 21 points and 20 rebounds to lead Lincoln

West Salem ends with a 13-13 overall record, while the Cardinals improve to 14-10.
