HONOLULU - Junior Cambria Miranda and sophomore Stefanie Ewing each hit a home run as No. 14 ranked Oregon State knocked off Liberty University, 4-2, in Thursday’s softball action at the Hawaiian Airlines Spring Fling Tournament.

Oregon State took a quick 1-0 advantage when Paige Lowe singled to left field in the top of the second inning and senior Sherina Galvan came around to score.

The Beavers extended their lead to 3-0 in the third when Miranda hit her team-leading fourth homer of the year in a two-run shot over the left field fence.

The home run was also the 25th of Miranda’s career, moving her into a tie for fifth place in the OSU record book.

Ewing sent a sixth inning pitch sailing over the left field fence to push the Beaver lead to 4-0.

The Flames made things interesting by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh and loading the bases before Mia Longfellow ended the game by catching a pop-up in foul territory on the third base line.

Senior centerfielder Natalie Johnson continued her hot-hitting, finishing the game with a 3-for-4 mark from the plate.

The Lake Oswego, OR native leads the team with nine multiple hit games on the year.

Senior hurler Brianne McGowan (8-4) earned the complete game victory. McGowan has now moved into second place all-time at OSU with 78 complete games in her career.

OSU will meet tournament host University of Hawaii at approximately 8:00 PM PST.
