Pilots Ronick Named WCC Co-Pitcher of the Week

Against UC-Davis on March 3rd, Ronick surrendered just three hits in 7.0 scoreless innings during a 3-2 Portland win.

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Portland Pilots junior pitcher Ari Ronick was named the West Coast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week after picking up two wins in two appearances last week.

Ronick shares the honor with Pepperdine’s Adam Olbrychowski, who also recorded two wins.

In his two appearances against Washington and UC Davis, Ronick gave up just one run on four hits, none for extra bases, in 9.1 total innings.

He also struck out six and walked just three, while holding opposing hitters to a .129 average.

Against the Aggies in Davis, Calif. on March 3rd, Ronick surrendered just three hits in 7.0 scoreless innings during a 3-2 Portland win. He had two strikeouts and zero walks.

Ronick came out of the bullpen to pitch 2.1 innings and record the win against Washington on Feb. 27th. He allowed one run on one hit, while striking out four in a 13-11 win in Seattle, Wash.

Ronick has allowed just one earned run this season for a 0.54 earned run average in 16.2 innings pitched.

Olbrychowski went 2-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA, pitching five innings to record a win over UC Irvine before notching the victory with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in a win over Western Carolina. The junior struck out four and allowed just six hits.

Portland hits the road this weekend for a three-game series against UC Riverside in Riverside, Calif. beginning with a 6:00 PM game Friday night.
