SEATTLE - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Bill Bavasi announced Sunday that the Mariners have acquired veteran right-handed reliever Jason Davis from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for a player to be named later.

Davis, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound relief pitcher, is expected to join the Mariners during the series versus the Los Angeles Angels, May 15th-17th.

"We think Davis can help us in the bullpen," Bavasi said. "He was very effective last year after being moved full-time to the bullpen, and his ability to work long or short should give Mike additional options."

Davis spent 2006 as a full-time relief pitcher for the first time in his career, and was 3-2, 3.74 in 39 games, allowing just one home run in 55.1 innings pitched. From July 25th to the end of the season he was 1-1, 1.14 in 17 games.

This season Davis was 0-0, 4.76 in eight games, all in relief.

In his Major League career, Davis has compiled an 18-22, 4.69 mark in 114 games, 52 starts with one big league save.
