MONMOUTH, Ore. - Western Oregon, winners of a seventh straight conference baseball title, placed six players on the first team and three more on the second squad of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-star team, announced Monday by the conference office in Spokane. Second-year leader Jeremiah Robbins was named the GNAC Coach of the Year for the second time, and while rookie third baseman Randy Summers was selected as the GNAC Freshman of the Year. Named to the first team were Kevin Corrigan (pitcher), Mike Eisenhauer (pitcher), Ben Shivers (relief pitcher), Summers (third base), Paul Fisher (shortstop), and Brent Mertens (outfield). Corrigan was a repeat selection and a unanimous vote receiver as a starting pitcher. Eisenhauer, Summers and Mertens were also unanimous picks, and Mertens was also a first team selection in 2006. Fisher was a second team selection last spring. Named to the second team was freshman pitcher Mike Cusick, Corrigan as a first baseman and Coubi Jiles (designated hitter). Corrigan was a first team pick as a first baseman in ’06 and was a second team pitcher. Honorable mention kudos went to junior catcher Tony Jones and senior second baseman Aaron Sutton.
