Oregon State Softball Has Six Players Receive All-PAC Recognition

WALNUT CREEK, Ca. - The No. 7 ranked Oregon State University softball team had six players earn All-Pacific-10 Conference recognition on Wednesday, as was announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen.

For the first time in OSU history, a pair of student-athletes earned first team accolades in the same season, as junior pitcher Brianne McGowan and sophomore utility player Cambria Miranda were each awarded the league`s first team honor.

McGowan, from Reno, NV, earns first team recognition for the second consecutive year after being named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year in 2005. She currently boasts a 24-6 record from the circle with 201 strikeouts and is batting .302 from the plate.

Miranda, from Camarillo, CA, was an honorable mention selection as a freshman. This year, she led the team with a .313 batting average in conference games and at one point hit a home run in six consecutive Pac-10 outings.

Senior outfielder Adrienne Alo earned second team honors for the third straight season and is just the third player in Oregon State history (Tarrah Beyster and Jodi Chmielewski) to receive Pac-10 accolades in all four years of her career. Junior shortstop Mia Longfellow received the third Pac-10 honor of her career with her second straight second team award, while senior catcher Lisa Allen became a two-time honorable mention pick and freshman first baseman DeAnn Young picked up her first Pac-10 accolade with an honorable mention selection.
