McMINNVILLE, Ore. - A celebration and tribute in honor of the Linfield Wildcats’ 2007 NCAA Division III softball championship is scheduled to take place Thursday, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the Linfield softball diamond.

All students, faculty, staff, parents, fans and the general public are invited and welcome to attend.

The Wildcats, who returned from Virginia in the early hours of Wednesday morning, are being honored for a record-setting season that culminated in Salem, Va., on Tuesday with a 10-2 national championship victory over Washington University-St. Louis.

The softball facility is located at the corner on Renshaw Avenue, between Brumback and Everson streets, adjacent to South Hall.

Linfield president Dr. Thomas L. Hellie will offer congratulatory remarks.

Dave Hansen, Linfield dean of students, plans to present a proclamation from McMinnville Mayor Ed Gormley announcing Thursday at “Wildcat National Softball Champions Day.”

Wildcats coach Jackson Vaughan and several players are also expected to speak.

Light refreshments will be served.
