May-31-2006 23:02OSU Women`s Golf Signs Brittany Stewart of Phoenix, Ariz.Salem-News.com SPORTS
CORVALLIS - Oregon State women`s golf coach Rise Lakowske announced that Brittany Stewart has signed a letter-of-intent and will join the program in the fall. Stewart, a senior at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ariz., was a 2005 EA Sports High School All-American. Stewart placed in the top eight at both the state and regional meet in all four of her years on the varsity, including a second-place finish in November 2005 at the state 5A meet. She was the medalist at six events during her senior year and made the East Valley Tribune`s All-Girls Golf Team. “Brittany will add considerable depth to our returning squad,“ Lakowske said. “She has made dramatic improvement in her golf game over the past three years and we expect that to continue into her collegiate career. She is dedicated to improving the mental part of her game, and is actively seeing a noted sport psychologist in the Phoenix area. That, along with the competition she`ll have in college, will take her to the next level.“ Stewart finished second at the 2005 Arizona Junior Match Play Championship, and is a regular on the junior golf circuit and has many top five finishes. An excellent student as well, she has earned the Scholar-Athlete AIA Honor Roll award. Stewart is the second recruit for the Beavers. Lakowske announced the signing of Lauren Archer (Boise, Idaho), in the fall.
