LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Reigning champion Street Sense struck the front at the top of Churchill Downs stretch under regular rider Calvin Borel and extended his lead over Hard Spun to score an impressive 2 ¼-length victory in the 133rd running in the Kentucky Derby under the historic Twin Spires.

The 3-year-old son of Street Cry completed the 1 ¼-miles in 2:02.17 and paid $11.80, $6.40, and $4.60 as the tepid post time favorite.

Hard Spun, ridden by Mario Pino, finished a clear second and paid $9.80 and $7.

Curlin, piloted by Robby Albarado, rallied to finish a distant third, 5 ¾-lengths behind the runner-up, and paid $5.60 to show.

Imawildandcrazyguy ran on late to finish fourth and was followed under the wire by Sedgefield, Circular Quay, Tiago, Any Given Saturday, Sam P., Nobiz Like Shobiz, Dominican, Zanjero, Great Hunter, Liquidity, Bwana Bull, Storm in may, Teuflesberg, Scat Daddy, Stormello, and Teuflesberg.

Queen Elizabeth II was one of the 156,635 racing fans on hand, the third-largest crowd in the Derby’s 133 years.

Owned by James Tafel and trained by Carl Nafzer, Street Sense won for the fourth time in eight starts. He was last year's Eclipse Award winning champion 2-year-old after capturing the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (Grade 1) by a record ten-lengths at Churchill Downs.
