SALEM - Junior Lindsay Batey was the lone Corban softball player on this season's All-Cascade Conference Team when the squad was announced Saturday after an outstanding season that included a team-leading nine home runs. For the second straight season, Corban's softball program placed a mere single player on the all-conference team following former Warrior Rachel Hiatt's (2003-2005) honor last season. Batey, a 5-foot-9 corner infielder, led the Warriors in 11-out-of-22 offensive categories, including batting average (.310), slugging percentage (.602), on-base percentage (.418), runs scored (24), hits (35), runs batted in (21), doubles (6), home runs (9), total bases (68), walks (20), and total plate appearances (134). Along with her offensive output, Batey tied for the team lead in games played at 43, while also leading the Warriors in put outs (126) and assists (57) en route to registering a fielding percentage of .934. Among the single-season records in Corban softball history, Batey's 2007 performance ranks 10th in batting average, tied for 5th in runs scored, 9th in hits, tied for 6th in runs batted in, 3rd in home runs, 4th in total bases, 4th in slugging percentage, 5th in on-base percentage, and 2nd in walks. In her three-year career, Batey ranks 8th in batting average (.290), 1st in at-bats (341), 2nd in runs scored (54), 1st in hits (99), 3rd in runs batted in (49), 1st in doubles (21), 3rd in home runs (11), 1st in total bases (153), 7th in slugging percentage (.449), and 1st in walks (39) in Warrior softball history. "Lindsay deserves this honor because she is one of our best players," said first-year head coach Michelle Hext. "This past season was a break out year for Lindsay, as she was the driving force of the Warriors' offense all season." Besides her conference recognition, Batey was also named the Warriors' Most Valuable and Best Offensive Player, as voted by her teammates, at Corban's end-of-the-year barbeque following its final double header against Concordia on Friday. Batey becomes the sixth Corban player in the program's four-year history to be named to the all-conference team joining former Warriors Ashley Bellum (2004), Sabra Gamel (2004), Kristin Meeker (2004), Beth Franke (2005), and Rachel Hiatt (2006).
