CORVALLIS, Ore. - Saturday’s game marks an opportunity for Oregon State to become bowl eligible when it hosts the Washington Huskies.

The 5-4 Beavers need one win in their last three games to qualify for a postseason appearance and would likely finish in the top six in the Pac-10 Conference which would qualify the team for one of the league’s six bowl affiliations.

Washington picked up its first conference win last week (at Stanford) and is still alive for postseason, but the 3-6 Huskies have to win seven games with four remaining due to a 13-contest schedule.

Oregon State starting QB Sean Canfield was diagnosed with a strained shoulder this week. Sophomore QB Lyle Moevao will start in his place. In the five games Moevao has played in this season he has completed 27 of 51 passes for 280 yards, and four interceptions.

TOUCHDOWN FOR TOYS:

OSU Athletics and Town & Country Reality is hosting the seventh annual “Touchdown for Toys” this Saturday.

Fans are asked to bring an unwrapped gift or make a cash donation when entering the gates at Reser Stadium, or when visiting “Fan Fair” and the CH2M Hill Alumni Center during pregame. All proceeds will be donated to needy families.

WRESTLING TEAM TO BE HONORED:

The 2006-07 Beaver Pac-10 wrestling champions will be honored during a timeout Saturday. Head coach Jim Zalesky led OSU to its first conference title since 1994. Jeremy Larson (174 pounds) and Ty Watterson (HWT) won individual titles.

WELCOME TO RESER STADIUM:

Washington hasn’t ventured into Reser Stadium since the 2003 season, when things looked vastly different at the south end of campus. Capacity at Reser Stadium was 35,362, Beaver head coach Mike Riley was in his first season in his second tenure as head coach, and it was the last time Washington won in the series.

RECORD CROWD?

Reser Stadium could hold a record crowd Saturday night. The current mark is 44,015 set last year vs. Oregon -- which was a sellout. The new capacity of the stadium is 45,674.

BOWL ELIGIBILITY:

Oregon State needs one victory to become bowl eligible and likely play in its second consecutive postseason game and seventh in the last nine years. If Beaver head coach Mike Riley is involved in bowl games it is usually a good thing -- he’s 3-0 as the head coach at OSU and 3-0 as the offensive coordinator at USC.

THE SERIES:

The Beavers have won three straight in the series, all in Seattle, and four of the last six meetings. OSU has never won four straight vs. Washington. Overall, UW leads 57-30-4. Last year OSU limped into Husky Stadium with a 2-3 record and beat Washington 27-17 to jump-start a season that saw it finish with the second-best mark in school history at 10-4. Receiver Sammie Stroughter had 223 yards receiving, Yvenson Bernard had 144 on the ground and Matt Moore 308 through the air. The Beavers had 488 yards of total offense. Husky QB Isaiah Stanback was hurt in the fourth quarter and was lost for the year.

NORTHWEST TITLE:

Oregon State hopes to earn its first mythical Pacific Northwest title since the 2004 season, but will have to win two of the three on the road -- dates at Washington State Nov. 17 and at Oregon Dec. 1 remain after Saturday.
