Nov-25-2006 21:02Men's Wrestling: Ducks Win Three Matches at Hoosier DualsSalem-News.com SPORTSOregon’s closest match of the day would come against Ohio University as the Ducks would fall 19-18.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior heavyweight Chris Dearmon and transfer Brysen French both won four matches as the Ducks won three matches out of five at the Hoosier Duals, hosted Saturday by the University of Indiana. The Ducks picked up their first match victory of the day against the Bucknell Bison 23-19, with a pin by Dearmon over Bucknell’s Geroge Hingson in 2:53. Sophomore Ronnie Lee also picked up a technical fall against the Bisons’ Shane Riccio at the 174 lbs. position. In their second match of the day, the host Indiana Hoosiers defeated the Ducks’ 35-8. Dearmon and Justin Pearch were the only Ducks to pick up wins, but they would both do it with major decisions, Pearch defeating Nick Walpole, 17-8, at 141 lbs. and Dearmon gaining the 15-6 victory over Justin Kuhn. The Ducks regained a bit of momentum in their third match with a convincing 27-10 victory over Cumberland University. Beau Malia recorded a pin in 3:52 at 125 lbs. and Bryan Cantrell, Kyle Bounds and Lee all recorded major decisions against members of the Lebanon, Tenn. liberal arts college. Although both teams would record five wins, including a fall a piece, the difference would come at the 165 lbs. position, as the Bobcats’ Jacob Ison would record a major decision over Bounds, 11-3. The Ducks rebounded from the close loss with a convincing 31-10 win over Appalachian State to close out the afternoon of round-robin duals. Malia and Pearch would both record pins in the victory while Dearmon and French recorded major decisions.
