ARCATA, Calif. - Humboldt State made it two wins in as many nights over Western Oregon, topping the Wolves 75-46 on Saturday night in a women's non-conference basketball game at East Gym.
HSU improved to 2-0 on the season, while Western Oregon is now 1-4.
The Wolves, who lost by only 10 points to Humboldt State on Friday night (62-52), were blitzed early by the Lumberjacks tonight, outscored 15-2 in the first three and a half minutes of play and 24-4 just nine minutes into the contest.
The hosts led by as many as 27 points in the first half, before settling for a 41-18 margin at the break. HSU hit 55 percent of its shots in the first half, while WOU was a frigid 22 percent from the floor.
Western Oregon made a run to get within 13 points with 4:49 left (59-46), but the Lumberjacks scored the final 15 points of the game to get to the final count of 75-46.
Biava Arganda hit 8 of 12 shots from the field to finish with a game-high 18 points for the Lumberjacks. Katie Wilder added 13, Claudia Nelson had 11, and Haley Andrews came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds and score six points.
Kori Seymour led WOU with 10 points, while Leada Berkey had nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists. But the Wolves shot just 25 percent from the field and hit just seven of 32 three-points attempts. The 'Jacks also outrebounded its visitors, 56-37.
