Women's Volleyball: Four Wildcats Receive All-Star Accolades

Former McNary Graduate Monica Groves was named to the 2006 All-West Region Team and First Team All-Northwest Conference.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Four Linfield Wildcats have been recognized for outstanding seasons with recognition on the all-conference and all-region teams.

Middle blocker Lauren Kreiger (Sr., Olympia, Wash.), who led the 14th-ranked Wildcats in attacks (727), kills (298) and blocks (75) was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation with a spot on the West Region all-star team.

Kreiger was also a first team Northwest Conference all-star for the second straight year. Linfield setter Chelsey Gellatly (Sr., Philomath, Ore.), the leading setter in the NWC, was also a first team West Region and first team NWC all-star. Gellatly averaged 11.61 assists per game in leading the Wildcats to a 21-2 record, a share of the NWC championship, and a berth in this week's NCAA Division III West Region playoffs.

She was a repeat first team all-NWC selection. Earning honorable mention in the Northwest Conference all-star balloting were libero Hannah Veley (Soph., Tualatin, Ore.) and outside hitter Katelyn Baker (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.). Veley led the Wildcats with 33 service aces and was second on the team in digs with 295. Baker had 230 kills and hit .257 at the net, both second on the team behind Kreiger.
