MONMOUTH - Western Oregon wrapped up a series of six matches in 12 days with a 3-1 non-conference women’s soccer victory over George Fox on Sunday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.

The Wolves scored the first three goals of the match, and Maggie Kuzmer got the scoring started with a goal at 22:23, when a Kristen Werhane shot from two yards out was saved by GFU keeper Jessica Campbell, but Kuzmer took the rebound and popped it into the net.

Seven minutes before the end of the half, Ally Reamer put the Wolves up 2-0 with a five-yard shot, and that’s where things stood at the half.

WOU added to their lead early in the second half when Liorah Riutzel fired in a shot from the top of the box. Julie Alexander helped the visitors avoid the shutout with a score at the 67-minute mark with penalty kick.

While Western Oregon dominated the first half, George Fox took most of the second half shots. WOU outshot the visitors, but barely, 16-14. Campbell had six saves for GFU, while Western Oregon keeper Ally Meyer had seven.

Western Oregon will now get nine days off before resuming play on Oct. 10th with a home match versus Southern Oregon.
