CORVALLIS - Oregon State fought hard in the third game in an effort to make the match competitive, but Arizona had enough in the arsenal to hold off the Beavers. Brittany Cahoon provided outstanding play for the Beavers but couldn’t overcome an efficient attack by the Wildcats.

OSU’s setback leaves their record at 3-12 overall and 0-6 in the Pac-10. Arizona improves to 10-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Senior opposite hitter Brittany Cahoon had a solid night for the Beavers leading the team with 12.0 points on 11 kills and added six digs.

Oregon State tried to get a jump start early in the third game by posting a stronger block. Abby Windell and Kristin Murray’s block early in the game got the Beavers off to a good start, 2-0. Shortly after, Windell and Rachel Rourke turned away another Wildcat attacker to once again regain the lead at 8-7. The Cats kept things close and, despite six kills by Rourke in the game, never allowing the Beavers to gain more than a three point lead. With the score tied at 26-26 three different players recorded kills to finish the match.

Junior middle blocker Dominique Lamb led the Wildcats with a game-high 19.0 points on 10 kills and eight total blocks while sophomore hitter Brooke Buringrud posted a game-high 13 kills.
