Beavers Improve But Fall at #14 California, 1-0

OSU will try to get back on track at Stanford on Sunday at 1:00 PM. The Beavers won 3-1 last year in Palo Alto.

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Oregon State men’s soccer team improved mightily over last week’s performance, but the visiting Beavers suffered a 1-0 loss to 14th-ranked California in Pacific-10 Conference play on Friday afternoon.

The Beavers (5-8-1, 0-6) lost 5-0 last week at home to the Golden Bears (9-3-1, 4-1), but this one was scoreless until the 85th minute when Cal’s Steve Purdy scored on a 30-yard free kick.

Cal had a 13-6 shots advantage and a 6-1 edge on corner kicks.

Goals: Steve Purdy, CAL, 84:32.

Corner Kicks: OSU 1, CAL 6

Fouls: OSU 19, CAL 16
