Wolves Cap Home Stand With 2-0 Win Over Wildcats

MONMOUTH - Western Oregon celebrated its final home match of the 2006 season with its first victory in conference play, topping Central Washington 2-0 on a windy and wet Sunday afternoon at the WOU soccer field.

The victory moved WOU's overall mark to 8-7-2, and they are now 1-5-1 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Wildcats dropped to 5-8-3 on the season and to 0-5-2 in the GNAC.

The Wolves scored once in the first half and again in the second in picking up the win. Aly Reamer got the hosts on the board at 23:16 mark, taking a corner kick from Liorah Riutzel that bounced off the goalkeeper, knocking it back into the goal.

Maggie Kuzmer added the insurance goal early in the second half, decking a shot from the top of box at 58:50.

WOU goalkeeper Ally Meyer gained the shutout, tallying three saves on the day.

The Wolves will spend the final two weeks of the 2006 season on the road, traveling to

Western Washington on Thursday (7:00 PM), Seattle Pacific on Saturday (3:00 PM) and Northwest Nazarene on Oct. 28th at noon.
