PERRYDALE - The Oregon School for the Deaf Panthers Volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday to take on the Perrydale Pirates. The Pirates had the Panthers number and took a win in all three match-ups.

This is the second match up this season for these two teams, not including tournament games. When the Pirates traveled to OSD in September, they won all three. The two teams recently played each other in the OSD Volleyball Invitational, with both teams posting a win and playing a third game to determine which team would go to the final round. The Pirates went on to play the eventual tournament winning Eddyville Eagles.

This match-up is only the second in the last ten meetings that OSD has had to venture from home. The score in the first game was Perrydale 25, OSD 14.

Game number two final score was Perrydale 25, OSD 10. The Panthers number #14 Erica Vasquez and #1 Brenna DeBartolo both hit kills in this game, but it was not enough to upset the momentum of the Pirates. OSD’s #11 Rose Covell stood out on defense.

Wrapping up the night, the score for game number three was Perrydale 25, OSD 10. OSD Team Captain #1 Brenna DeBartolo smacked a kill off of the Pirates first serve. From there, the Pirates scored five consecutive points. There were aces all around the Pirates with #7 Emily Tarpley grabbing two and #9 Sarah McMillen slamming three in a row. OSD’s # 15 Tiffany Hill served up a couple of more points late in the game, but Perrydale’s #6 Ashley Fults served up the last six points for the win.

The OSD Panthers have four more match-ups this season, each one of them on the road. On Thursday October 17th, the Panthers head to Open Bible Christian to take on the Country Christian High School Cougars and the Open Bible Christian Black Panthers. From there the OSD Panthers head to CS Lewis Academy to play the Watchmen. To finish off the season the Panthers will travel to Jewell High School to take on the Blue Jays.
