STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Oregon women’s golf team stood in a tie for eighth place after Friday’s first round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Stanford University on the Stanford Golf Course. UO’s scoring quartet tallied a 13-over score of 297 Friday, and ranked fourth among the eight Pac-10 teams on hand. Senior Kim McCready paced the Ducks on the par 71, 5,985-yard course and stood in a tie for 12th overall with her even-71 first round – her fourth round at par or under in 10 rounds of duty this fall. The Placerville, Calif., native scored birdies on the par-5 first hole and par-4 10th hole, parred 14 other holes, and carded bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes. Other Duck scorers Friday included sophomore Cathryn Bristow (29th-tie, 74), freshmen Kate Hildahl (37th-tie, 75) and senior Therese Wenslow (48th-tie, 77) , while freshman Felicia Eastick rounded out the UO contingent (62nd-tie, 80). Overall, No. 12 Arizona led the 15-team field by seven strokes with its 7-under score of 277 Friday, and was trailed by No. 1 Georgia (second, 284), No. 6. Stanford (third, 286), No. 9 Vanderbilt (fourth, 288) and No. 2 Duke (fifth, 292). Other teams on hand Friday included No. 15 New Mexico (sixth, 294), Washington State (seventh, 295), No. 41 San Jose State and Oregon (eighth-tie, 297), No. 3 UCLA (10th, 298), Tulsa (11th, 302), No. 21 Arkansas and No. 46 Washington (12th-tie, 305), Oregon State (14th, 306) and California (15th, 311). Georgia’s Whitney Wade and Arizona’s Alison Walshe were tied atop the individual leader board with their 4-under 67. Arizona’s Adriana Zwanck followed one stroke back in third place (68), and fourth place featured a tie between five players.
