Oct-20-2006 23:42Coyotes Win Sixth-Straight, Stop Corban, 4-1Salem-News.com SPORTSThe Warriors travel Saturday to Walla Walla, Wash for a match-up with Walla Walla College. Game time is 7:00 PM.
CALDWELL, Idaho - Four goals in the first 25 minutes of play gave Albertson College all the cushion they would need, as the Yotes completed a season sweep of Corban College, topping the Warriors, 4-1, at Symms Field. With the victory, ACI (9-5-1overall, 7-2 CCC) extended their winning streak to six games, and maintained a full one-game lead over Concordia in the Cascade Conference standings. Derek Erstad got the Coyotes on the board in the 11th minute blasting home a shot off a Cameron Johnson touch. A minute later, Kazuki Murata took a corner kick from the left side and bent the ball in the net for a 2-0 lead. In the 19th minute, Johnson took a through-ball from Mitch White - off a chip from Brandon Koomler, and beat keeper Aaron Frankling for the goal. ACI capped the barrage in the 25th minute as Brandon Eddy followed a Jesus Lopez shot off the right post with a flick into the open net. After being outshot 16-2 in the opening 45, the Warriors (6-7-2 overall, 4-5-1 CCC) got early momentum, as Scott Marshall rammed home a rebound of his own shot to tally Corban's lone goal. They would put pressure on in the second half, but ACI keeper Jay Gentle made three saves in the period to keep the Warriors at bay.
