EUGENE - Oregon senior forward Nicole Garbin has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 17th-23rd, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.

The Ducks only played one match over the weekend, but it proved historical for both Garbin and the team. Garbin scored a golden goal 3:50 into overtime to lead Oregon to a 2-1 defeat of rival Oregon State.

It was her 31st career goal, tying Chalise Baysa (1998-01) for the all-time Oregon record. The goal was especially fitting coming from Garbin, a sixth-year senior and Oregon's most decorated player, as the victory guaranteed Oregon (10-5-1) a winning season for the first time in program history, and set single-season records for wins and Pac-10 wins (4).

Garbin, a Wailuku, Hawaii native, currently leads the Pac-10 in shots (69) and is second in goals with nine this season. Her game-winner against the Beavers was her seventh of the season, most in the Conference.

The award is the second for Garbin in just the past three weeks and third of her career. She also was honored for the week of Oct. 3rd-9th this year and once in 2003.

Garbin is now tied with six other former Pac-10 standouts for the most career Player of the Week awards. She has half of Oregon's six total awards.

ALSO NOMINATED: Katie Ratican, Sr., F, CAL; Kristin Stannard, Fr., MF, STAN; Lauren Cheney, Fr., F, UCLA; Lauren Brown, Jr., F, USC; Brynn Bemis, Jr., GK, WSU.
