McMINNVILLE - Three Linfield players totaled double digits in kills, lifting the 14th-ranked Wildcats to a three-game sweep of Northwest Conference foe Willamette Wednesday night inside Ted Wilson Gym. The scores were 30-20, 30-27, 30-23. The Wildcats (18-2, 11-2 NWC) won their third consecutive match behind the 15 kills and 15 digs of all-star middle blocker Lauren Kreiger. Katelyn Baker added a dozen kills and Kelsey French pounded out 10 for Linfield. Setter Chelsey Gellatly distributed 33 assists while adding 15 digs. Linfield hit .236 to Willamette’s .126, including a .241 to .020 disparity in the first frame. Kelley Lindstrom of Willamette tallied a match-high 17 kills. Alona Lyamin had 19 digs and Jessica Drumm spread around 33 assists for the Bearcats (4-19, 0-13). Willamette’s best chance to take a game from the favored Wildcats came in the middle game. The game was knotted at 25 before kills by the Wildcats’ Hannah Veley and Emily Vuylsteke, combined with the WU service error, proved to be the difference. Linfield is home again Friday night to battle the George Fox Bruins at 7:00 PM. Willamette’s next match is Saturday night, when the Bearcats host Lewis & Clark at 7:00 PM.
