SALEM - Head coach Dave Bale and Corban's women's basketball team has been chosen as the pre-season favorite in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, as voted by the conference coaches. With nine returnees, including four starters, Bale has 77.8% of the scoring back from last season's squad that posted an overall record of 25-7. Leading the pack of returnees are a pair of senior All-Conference honorees Jessi Norton and Tosha Wilson. Along with the All-Conference duo, senior Brianne Carras and junior All-Conference honorable mention Jessica Steigleman round out the quartet of starters. The remaining returnees are senior Kendall Dionne, senior Jessica Gama, junior Mandy Peterson, junior Katie Dennis (Damascus), and sophomore Rachel Steigleman. Competing for the first time collegiately are a trio of freshman -- Hillary Sell, Beth McLam, and Laura Santie. Last season, fifth-year coach Bale and the Warriors set a school-record for winning percentage (.781) and finished tied for second in the conference with Eastern Oregon at 14-4. Despite a loss in the conference tournament semi-finals, Corban was ranked in all eleven NAIA Division II coaches' polls, including a program-high 16th on January 11th.
