OSU’s Taylor Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

It’s the first career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Taylor, who is a two-time All-Pac-10 first team selection. It’s only the fifth time ever that an OSU player has earned the weekly honor.

CORVALLIS - Junior forward Jodie Taylor of the Oregon State women’s soccer team has been named the Pacific-10 Conference’s Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Taylor set a school record with her 14th career game-winning goal, as she scored in the 100th minute of OSU’s 2-1 overtime win over Portland State on Sunday at Lorenz Field. She broke the record originally set by Val Williams from 1994-95.

Four of Taylor’s 14 game-winners have been golden goals in overtime. It was also Taylor’s 31st career goal, which moved her into a tie for second all-time at Oregon State. In 2006, she has team highs of six goals (four game-winners), seven assists and 19 points.

She leads the Pac-10 in points, is tied for the lead in assists and is tied for second in goals and game-winning goals.

The Beavers open conference play this weekend with games at Arizona State Friday at 7:00 PM and at Arizona on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
