SALEM) - The long trek from the high desert of central Oregon over the Cascades to Keizer proved not that bad for the Redmond Panthers manhandled the McNary Celtics 48-14 Friday night. The Panthers (4-2 overall, 2-0 CVC) rolled up 349 yards of total offense, while forcing eight Celtics turnovers. With the loss, McNary falls to 2-4 overall, 0-2 in the CVC. Don’t look now but defending league champion Sprague has won three straight. The Olympians ( 3-3 overall, 2-0 CVC) cruised to a 28-18 non-conference win over the Lakeridge Pacers from the Three River Conference. Homecoming was sweet for the McKay and West Salem. The Titans ( 3-2 overall, 2-1 CVC) overcame a 3-0 halftime deficit to defeat South Salem, 24-10. With the loss, the Saxons (1-5 overall, 0-3 CVC) will need a miracle to make the playoffs. The Royal Scots (3-3 overall, 2-1 CVC) nipped the North Salem Vikings (3-3 overall, 1-2 CVC) 13-12. In the game of the year so far in 5A, #1 West Albany pounded #5 Corvallis 31-8. The win moves the Bulldogs to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-Willamette Conference. The loss drops the Spartans to 4-1 overall and 2-1 MWC.
