Ducks Wrap Up Successful Effort at Jack Taylor Classic

The highlight of the tournament came as the Ducks swept Washington State in their mock doubles dual match and took three of five singles matches against the Cougars as well.

BOISE, Idaho - The Oregon women’s tennis team wrapped up play Sunday at the Jack Taylor Classic, hosted by Boise State University, by taking two matches in the final mock dual against the host Broncos. Overall, the Ducks had a good showing in their first action of the fall campaign.

Oregon was led by Carmen Seremeta, as she went 3-0 over the weekend, defeating WSU’s Amy Toth on the first day, New Mexico’s Lucy Scott on the second, and Boise State’s Stacey Houseley on the final day.

Senior Monica Hoz de Vila also did not lose a singles match during the tournament, which featured the feel of mock dual matches without the official team scoring. The La Paz, Bolivia native compiled a 2-0 record at the tournament, defeating New Mexico’s Sandra Zmak and Washington State’s Ashley Spicer.

While sophomore Claudia Hirt did not have the best singles effort, going 0-2 over the weekend, she was a stalwart in doubles play. Teaming with three different partners over the two days of doubles competition, Hirt compiled a 3-0 record.

The Ducks next head to the ITA Regionals in Berkeley, Calif. from Oct. 20-23.
