STRATFORD, Ct. - Former Oregon State softball standouts Lisa Allen and Tarrah Beyster helped their professional team, the New England Riptide, win the 2006 National Pro Fastpitch Championship. Allen and Beyster’s New England squad squared off against Adrienne Alo’s Connecticut Brakettes’ team for the title.

Allen and Beyster completed their first year as part of New England’s first ever championship team. Beyster has played on three different NPF teams – New England Riptide, Omaha Comets, and Arizona Heat.

Beaver standout third baseman Clare Burnum also plays professionally for the Texas Thunder. Burnum has starred three seasons for the Thunder and led the league in walks during the 2005 season while ranking second in RBI and triples.

Created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, the NPF has operated since 1997 under the names Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women’s Pro Softball League (WPSL).
