RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Despite attempting 21 shots, the Oregon soccer team dropped its second match of the 2006 season, losing 1-0 to UC Riverside Friday afternoon at the UCR Soccer Stadium.

It was the second straight 1-0 loss for the Ducks (0-2-0), who fell to Long Beach State by that score in the season opener.

The Highlanders’ Tessa Lennala scored the game’s lone goal in the 10th minute. Jill Del Rosario and Jenna Leonti assisted on the score.

Freshman Leigh Quinlan attempted five shots to lead Oregon. Senior Nicole Garbin and freshman Melissa Buich added four shots each for the Ducks.

Tawny Poggio made 12 saves for UC Riverside (2-1-0), including nine in the second half. The 12 saves was the third-highest single-game total in school history. Jessie Chatfield had nine saves for the Ducks.

Oregon played without starting defender Nicole Dobrzynski, who had to sit out the UC Riverside match as a result of a red card she received in the Long Beach State game.
