EUGENE - After dropping three matches last week to future Cascade Conference opponents, Northwest Christian College got one back, defeating Cascade College 30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 30-28.

The Beacons (2-3) used a balanced attack and a solid defense to ward off the Thunderbirds, keeping them winless on the season (0-9)

Brooke Stribling (Marist HS) once again led the way for the Beacons with a match-high 19 kills. She hit .326 for the evening. Charlie VanLoon added 13 kills and Ashley Blanchfill (Marist HS) dropped in eleven, to go along with 24 digs on a solid night for the freshman. The defense was also aided by Libero Mercedes LeClaire, who registered a match-best 26 digs.

VanLoon and Samantha Franklin had two blocks apiece to add to a defensive effort that allowed just a ..106 hitting percentage on the night. It was also another solid night at service for NCC as they recorded 14 aces, led by five from Tessa Greatwood (Sheldon HS).

Cascade was led by Alicia Charles who had team highs with 17 kills and 17 digs. Vanessa Fleetwood was the setter of the night, collecting 41 assists for just better than a ten assist per game average.

The Beacons will be back in action on Friday as they play host to Walla Walla College. Christian College is currently in it’s probation year as they join both the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the CCC.
