- In the inaugural Capitol Cup between cross-town rivals Corban and Willamette, junior midfielder Caleb Louvier notched the first hat trick of the season in helping lead the Warriors to a 4-2 victory over the Bearcats at Sparks Filed on Tuesday.

With the victory, the Warriors bring home the first-ever Capitol Cup trophy for display in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

In a very physical first half, the host Bearcats struck first when Mikey Rodrigues knocked home a rebound off Corban's sophomore goalkeeper James DelCastillo in the 39th minute. Willamette's Forrest Donoho was credited with the assist, as he set up the easy put-back for Rodrigues.

Down by a goal and completely controlling the offensive flow, Louvier unloaded a shot from 20 yards out into the lower right corner for his 2nd goal of the season. Louvier took a pass from freshman defender Mark Mendenhall and with one quick turn, rocketed the ball past Willamette's diving keeper to tie the game at 1-all.

With the score knotted at 1-1 at the half, Corban came out just as strong as they were in the opening 45 minutes and were awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Louvier stepped up from 6 yards out and guided the ball into the lower left corner, as the Bearcat net-minder dove to his right.

Less than eight minutes later, Louvier capped the hat trick when he took a pass from senior forward Scott Marshall and guided a curling shot off the outside of his right foot into the lower left corner.

Down by a pair of goals, Willamette got back within striking distance when Sam Moore took a pass from Rodrigues and tapped in a shot from four yards out. Rodrigues started the play by taking the ball down the near sideline and then stepped towards the endline before sliding a pass onto Moore's foot, who was waiting in front of a wide-open net.

Wasting no time, sophomore forward Tyler Grove put Corban back up by two goals sixteen seconds later when he worked with freshman midfielder Eli Conlee on a perfect through ball. From six yards out, Grove unloaded a shot into the back of the net for his second goal in less than a week.

Making his first start in net in ten days, DelCastillo picked up his first collegiate victory, as he recorded 5 saves compared to Willamette's Mark Bennett's game-high 7 saves.

In the game, there were 46 fouls called and seven yellow cards handed out -- 4 for Willamette and 3 for Corban.

Corban now finds themselves at 2-2-1 overall, while Willamette is 1-4-0 on the season.
