Vikings Three First Half Goals Enough to Beat Wolves, 3-0

Western Oregon will next travel to Ellensburg to take on Central Washington on Wednesday (3:00 PM), and will then return home to battle Simon Fraser in a non-conference match-up on Friday (3:00 PM).

MONMOUTH - Western Washington scored all three of its goals during a 21-minute span in the first half, cruising to a 3-0 women’s soccer victory over Western Oregon on Sunday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.

The victory improved WWU’s record to 6-2 on the season, and also gave them a win in their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference match of the year. Western Oregon dropped its second straight match to fall to 4-3-1 on season, and they are now 0-2 in GNAC action.

Katy Nydam, Alyssa Kessler and Jenny Barton all found the net in the first half for the visitors. The Vikings outshot the Wolves 15-7 on the day, including 8-4 in shots on goal. Brittany Martin-Gegax had the shutout in the goal for WWU, tallying four saves on the afternoon.
