SALEM - Junior midfielder Caleb Louvier was named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Player of the Week in men's soccer for the week ending September 16th, Tuesday by the conference and regional sports information office.

In two games, the 5-foot-10 third-year player recorded the season's first hat trick (2nd of his career) against NCAA Division III cross-town rival Willamette and scored the game-winning goal in overtime versus conference member Cascade.

Last Tuesday, Louvier netted a natural hat trick (three-in-a-row) versus the host Bearcats on Sparks Field in Salem. Trailing 1-0, Louvier tied the game in the 44th minute thanks to a 20-yard crack shot into the lower right corner. Less than three minutes into the second half, Corban was awarded a penalty kick, which Louvier took from 12 yards out and calmly guided the ball into a wide-open lower left corner for the 1-goal advantage. Louvier peaked him performance in the 57th minute when he notched his third and final goal of the contest via a bending shot off the outside of his right foot, past a diving Bearcat keeper, and into the back of the net.

In the first-ever "Soccer Under the Lights" match on Warrior Field, Louvier ended Corban's second overtime affair of the season in the 99th minute. Following an attempted shot by Cascade, freshman goalkeeper Aaron Franklin lofted a goal kick to Louvier, who beat two defenders before sliding the ball underneath an on-coming Thunderbird goalkeeper. Once past the final line of defense, Louvier tucked the ball into the lower left corner of the net for the game-winner and his fourth goal of the week.

So far this season, Louvier leads the team with 5 goals and 10 points. In three-plus season, the Seattle Christian High School graduate has moved into the top 10 in goals (9th with 21) and points (9th with 54).
