FOREST GROVE - Linfield and Lewis & Clark opened up their 2006 cross country seasons with team victories Saturday, capturing honors at the Boxer Rebellion meet Saturday at Lincoln Park. The Linfield men placed their top five runners in the top 11, led by a third place finish from Harrison Wilson, to score a winning total of 36 points. The Lewis & Clark women placed their top five runners within the top eight to score 24 points in the victory. Tamma Carleton and Amanda Phillips gave the Pioneers a one-two finish in the women's 6,000-meter race en route to the victory. Carleton pulled away in the final mile to win the race in a time of 22:32.27, while Phillips finished second in 22:46.08. Pacific's Shana Shosky (Sr., Centennial, Colo.), the lone runner for the Boxers on the afternoon, was a distant third with a finish of 23:31.88. Corban's Brent Fahsolz pulled away from the front pack in the final two miles to cruise to victory in the men's race in a time of 28:16.37. Pacific's Kellen Peters (So., Forest Grove, Ore.) held off Wilson in a race to the line to match his second place finish from last year. Peters clocked in at 28:34.22, while Wilson crossed in 28:36.82. Because of a wrong turn at the north end of the course, men's race participants ran an extra 320 meters over the scheduled 8,000-meter distance. The host Boxers' men's team finished fourth of five teams with 91 points. Sergio Hickey posted a solid effort in his first race of the season, crossing the line in 11th place in a time of 29:25.16.
