Simon Fraser Downs Wolves, 2-0

Western Oregon will return to GNAC play on Sunday, traveling to Seattle University to take on the Redhawks.

MONMOUTH - Simon Fraser scored two goals in the second half, pinning a 2-0 non-conference women’s soccer loss on Western Oregon on Friday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.

Richelle Foulkes assisted on both goals for the Clan, who improved to 6-3 on the season with the win. WOU dropped to 4-4-2. Simon Fraser is ranked No. 12 in the latest NAIA poll, and is listed third in NAIA Region I.

After a 0-0 halftime tie, Foulkes assisted Marissa Antoniazzi on a 10-yard chip shot at 68:46 to get SFU on the board. Eight and a half minutes later, Foulkes then dished to Natalie Baye, who banged one in from 30 yards out to seal the win for the visitors.

Cassie Newbrook produced a shutout in the net for the Clan and had four saves. Simon Fraser outshot Western Oregon 12-7, but WOU had four shots on goal to SFU’s three.
