WALLA WALLA, Wash - Tiffany Kam and Alyssa Morrison from the Willamette University women’s tennis team have advanced to the round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Regional, hosted by Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. The round of 16 will be played on Saturday. Kam, seeded #5, received a first round bye, then defeated Melissa Maebori of Linfield College, 6-0, 6-0, in the round of 32. Morrison also had a bye in the first round. She downed Kelsie Howell of George Fox University in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 32. Overall, Willamette was represented by eight players in singles action. Two players lost in the first round and four were eliminated from the bracket in the round of 32. Kam and Abby Funabiki received first-round bye in doubles, then lost to Katie Russell and Samantha Taylor of Puget Sound, 8-2. Morrison and Hanna Johnson defeated Rachael McCoola and Stephanie Reardon of Whitworth in the first round, 8-4. In the round of 16, Morrison and Johnson were defeated by the #4-seeded team of Sidoff and Courtney Dunham from Puget Sound, 8-2.
