LACEY, Wash. - Nick Crawford finished fourth overall, helping to lead his Western Oregon cross country teammates to a second-place finish on Saturday at the Saint Martin's Invitational. In a early preview of the teams and the course where the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships will be run next month, the Wolves were second of seven squads entered. Alaska Anchorage was the winner with 34 points and WOU was next with 55. John Riak of host Saint Martin's won the individual race on the eight kilometer course in 25:09. Crawford, a senior from Beaverton, was fourth in 26:13. Western Oregon placed three runners in the top ten, with Nik Karr crossing the line in eighth (26:27) and Mike Schmidt in ninth (26:34). WOU's women finished fourth of seven teams with 102 points, with Seattle Pacific taking the team prize with 26 points. Alee Rowley was the Wolves top finisher in 15th place, pacing the 5K course in 23:44. Club Northwest's Linda Huyck won in 21:34.
