SALEM - In the first-ever Corban/Warner Pacific Invitational, senior Brent Fahsholz and freshman Carli Moller each took home their respective individual titles, as Corban's men's and women's cross country teams brought home the titles for the first-ever sweep on Saturday. The women kick off the pair of collegiate races at Bush Park in Salem and Moller paced the 5K field in a time of 19:10.42, which was nearly 29 seconds faster than the second place finisher -- Alicia Jeffers of Southern Oregon. Along with Moller, fellow freshmen Bernice Soto and Tera Stegner led the Warriors with finishes of 4th and 5th respectively. Juniors Jill Nielsen and Sara Aikin finished 10th and 12th respectively in helping lead the Warriors to its first-ever team title thanks to a combined 32 points. Corban outpaced Southern Oregon, who finished the race with 44 total team points, as the Red Raiders had runners finish 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 14th, and 16th. As a team, the Warriors ran the 5K course in a team total time of 1:42:23.55. On the men's side, Fahsholz was challenged by a trio of Southern Oregon runners, but distanced himself from the pack over the final 1,000 meters en route to capturing his second individual title of the season. Fahsholz's time of 26:33.41 was just over 13 seconds better than the runner-up -- Southern Oregon's Cameron Kreuz. Sophomore Jason Bernard, junior Chad Hunsucker, sophomore Brian Beeson, and sophomore Ben Snell finished 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th respectively in helping Corban capture its first team title since the 2005 Lewis & Clark Invitational. Bernard ends the course in a time of 27:24.32, Hunsucker in 27:35.52, Beeson in 27:48.09, and Snell in 27:51.90. Freshman Jeffrey Schloemer and senior Thomas Berney rounded out the Warrior finishers with showings of 14th and 15th, as the duo finished less than three seconds apart (29:02.87 compared to 29:05.40). As a team, Corban narrowly defeated Southern Oregon, 27-28, while Warner Pacific finshed a distance third (105 points) with Northwest Christian and Cascade turning in incomplete scores.
