SEATTLE, Wash. - Maryann Boddy scored two goals and the Seattle University defense, led by goalie Kaitlyn Jackson earned its fifth consecutive shutout as the women’s soccer team posted a 3-0 conference victory over Western Oregon Sunday afternoon at Championship Field.

Seattle improved to 8-1-1 on the season with the win and to 3-0-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Western Oregon is now 4-5-2 and 0-3-1 in league play.

Seattle dominated the action throughout the match, outshooting Western Oregon, 29-2, and earning four corner kicks while not allowing the Wolves any chances from the corner. The Redhawks were held scoreless in the first half thanks to five saves by Western Oregon goalie Ally Meyer.

The home team jumped on the board quickly in the second half, earning a penalty kick chance. Boddy converted on her second penalty kick attempt of the season to put the Redhawks on the board.

In the 57th minute, Boddy corralled the ball at midfield and went on a long run, eventually sending a shot into the lower left corner of the net for her fifth goal of the season. Cassy Smith scored with 11 minutes remaining in the game as she stole a goal kick and beat Meyer for her third tally of the season.

Jackson picked up her fifth shutout of the season as the Redhawk defense allowed only two shots by Western Oregon’s Erica Hibbard that Jackson was able to stop. Seattle has not given up a goal in 450 consecutive minutes of action.
